  • Joker movie stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. They've come together, the second time on Big Screen after their first success together - Rowdy Rathore. Except them the movie also stars Shreyas Talpade and some other comedians. The movie seems to have been inspired by Aliens and the start of the story seems to be like Swades when Akshay returns from America back to his Village.

The movie has striking similarities with other movies. For instance, the return of Akshay Kumar to his hometown - Paglapur and his name, which was the same - Agastya in Shirish Kunder's previous film Jan-e-mann where Akshay was seen opposite to Salman Khan and Preity Zinta.

Shirish Kunder, Farah's Husband is struggling as a director to give bollywood his first hit. Will Joker be his first hit?

Plot: Agastya is a scientist who has been assigned a job - to make a transmitter that can communicate with Aliens. Unable to produce any results, Agastya is given an extra time of 1 month but he has to return back to his village - Paglapur to see his father, who is ill. Paglapur being a neglected village has its own sets of problem. Agastya promises its residents that he will solve their problems. Agastya, along with the villagers creates Crop circles. It then seems as if Paglapur has been visited by aliens. But does this strategy work?

Review: It is a known fact that Akshay Kumar is good at comedy and action both, but in Joker he plans to do none. His acting is just ok and some dialogues are repeated frequently many times during the film. One of them is - "sab kuch theek ho jayega". After Rowdy Rathore viewers were expecting a better one from Akshay but Joker is really a disappointment for his fans.

Sonakshi plays Akshay's love, but she has nothing much to do in the movie. She serves as an eye candy in Joker.

The plot has loopholes and the movie seems to be a comedy, but Shirish had made it on a serious note. Many ideas and concepts used in the movie are absurd. The movie doesn't seem to be real.

The concept behind Joker is good, but Shirish fails to produce it on big screen. The movie is disappointing and sometimes boring.

    Rating: 1/5.
