Yash Chopra, the king of romance passes away
Oct. 21 2012: The King of Romance Yash Chopra left the earth for his heavenly abode, today at the Lilavati Hospital. The news comes as a shock to the film industry. Bollywood's legendary director passed away in the Lilavati Hospital today evening, where he was being treated for Dengue from the past one week.
Yash Chopra was named the King of Romance pertaining to the genre of movies he has made till now. His contribution to the the bollywood film industry will never be forgotten. The number of successful blockbusters he gave to the bollywood film industry will remain unbeatable. The taste of romantic films that Yash Chopra could give, will now be buried forever. The film industry is shocked and the nation is weeping in grief as the great personality left us all behind for his heavenly abode.
Yash Chopra, was the secondary name of romantic blockbuster director - producer. The legend was born on September 27, 1932 in Lahore and began his career as an assistant director to his elder brother BR Chopra and filmmaker IS Johar. He gave 5 decade of his life as a successful filmmaker to the bollywood film industry. After stepping into the bollywood and proving himself as a successful assistant filmmaker, he started making films in 1959 and started his career with his directorial debut and a success, Dhool ka Phool.
After this, he directed Dharmaputra in 1961, which was also a hit at the box office. Encouraged by the success of both the films, the Chopra duo made more movies during the 1960s and 1970s. Chopra's mettle was proved after the release of Waqt in 1965 which pioneered the concept of multi-starer movies in the film industry.
Yash Chopra founded his own company Yash Raj Films in 1973 and launched Daag: A Poem of Love as the first movie produced under the banners of Yash Raj Films in the same year. His success had no end and he became unstoppable as he went on directing the films - Deewar (1975), Kabhie kabhie (1976), Trishul (1978). The era of 1980s came as a setback to the career of Yash Chopra and most of his films failed to make any impact on the box office. Silsila (1981), Mashaal (1984) and Vijay (1988) were these films. However in 1989 Yash Chopra directed Chandni which was a bumper hit at the box office.
Following the list of successes was Lamhe released in 1991 which was critically acclaimed and had a record opening in the overseas film market. Critics call Lamhe, the best work of Yash till date. In 1993 Yash signed Shahrukh Khan as the hero of Darr which was his debut film. Happy, with the success of Darr, Yash directed a few more films with Shahrukh as the lead role in his films. Next in line was Dil To Pagal Hai 1997 which also included Akshay Kumar and got good response from the audience. Then came Veer Zaara in 2004 which again won the audience's heart with its simple and fearful love story. Next in line is Jab Tak Hai Jaan which is set to release on November 13.
Yash Chopra announced his retirement from directing in 2012, making Jab Tak hai Jaan his last film as a director. Yash Chopra has won many awards including the Dada Sahab Phalke award in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2005. Yash Chopra fought against Dengu for the past one week at Lilavati Hospital where he was admitted on 13 october 2012 and finally lost the battle today, leave the bollywood family in demise.

you did a good job before leaving film industry . Storyline is excellent. bollywood4family detailed that movie has some objectionable scenes which I didn’t prefer for my kids to watch but movie is too good to see as compare to Son of Sardaar
